Ellen really motivates my son to speak and write in Japanese. He can be stubborn and difficult with tutors, but Ellen is able to engage him and entertain him while she is teaching. I initially had sought only native-speakers as tutors. But I actually think having a tutor who had to learn Japanese as a second language is an advantage. She can teach him tricks for learning and translating Japanese from the perspective of English as the primary language. We are so glad to have found Ellen!
