In order for a child to be successful in school they must be able to retain what the teacher presents as keys terms and concepts related to the subject content. Oftentimes, when we "learn" a new concept we retain the information long enough to pass the exam/quiz on that particular aspect/concept, only to forget the key facts after the exam/quiz because we memorized the information instead of Learning the information.
