Chemistry is based on physics, such as quantum mechanics' description of the electron configuration. However, chemistry goes far beyond physics in studying the behavior of the valence electrons and how they contribute to the chemical properties of compounds. As a Ph.D. theoretical physicist, I have not only studied college level chemistry and tutored many students in the past, but also continuously read about the latest development in chemistry, especially biochemistry. The application aspect of chemistry is so relevant to our everyday life from the air we breathe to the food we eat, to the genes we inherit. As your tutor, I want to make chemistry so interesting to you that you won't stop learning about it.

I remember when I first needed a tutor, I hated the idea of having a tutor. Mainly because most tutors I was used to were students who took the class before but didn't really know it all that well. First lesson, I came out blown away. Brian is super smart and that is an understatement. But it is not his smarts that helped me, its his ability to connect and really understand how you process math and be able to teach how you would best learn it. I had another friend take him and he says the same thing. Brian is patient, caring, super smart, and overall a great person to know. Looking back at my college career, I'm so glad I took him for Calculus, Stats and finite math. I always find it unbelievable when people talk about their grades jumping BUT I actually got a D on my first Calculus test at UIC and freaked out and with Brian's help I ended up getting an A in the course but that's because Brian helped me so much!
