Lia
CIAO! Native Italian tutor with love for Language, Food and much more
Ciao a tutti ! Hello everybody! My name is Lia and I moved from Rome in 1993, following my new husband to Chicago. I started to teach/tutor right away either students of the University of Chicago or regular people in other Language Schools. My students were adults, kids, teenagers, businessmen, travelers, opera lovers, College/University Professors, just anybody with any type of backgrounds, interests, age. With my twenty-year experience I can understand what each single student needs ...
Italian
Russell G. from Seattle, WA
Lia takes an approach to learning Italian that incorporates not only grammar and syntax, but culture as well. Every week we discussed specific subjects but also movies watched or some reading I've done. This makes both tutoring time and homework during the week more enjoyable and removes some of the feeling of "work" from the process. I feel I have made steady and rapid improvements in my ability as a result. It's a little bit of a drive for me to get to her home, but it's been well worth it. Grazie, Lia!

I was a little nervous making this step up to having a tutor's help to learn Italian. After the first visit I'm amazed at the patience, perseverance and kindness shown by Lia and her ability to make it fun and comfortable to learn the language. I have much greater confidence in moving forward than when I first started the search for a tutor. Lia certainly has mastered the art of language education. Grazie!

Lia is fantastic. She is very accommodating with my hectic schedule. She is patient and moving at a great pace with me in terms of lesson plans. I feel like I am learning quickly but am not overwhelmed. Lia is very kind and hospitable, opening up her home for the lessons and offering tea and coffee.

My daughter is very pleased with Lia's instruction and I am very appreciative of Lia's flexibility in accommodating my difficult schedule.

Laughs with me and isn't too hard on me when I mess up. Very comfortable atmosphere and teaches just enough so I can practice at home.
Thomas C. from Maple Valley, WA
This was my first time with any tutor so I had some reservations. Lia put me at ease right away. It's obvious that she has the experience to customize training per individual needs. Very professional.
Tamera C. from Kirkland, WA
Professional, of course knowledgeable, and the one-on-one is far better than being in a large classroom. Exactly what I was hoping for. Grazie Lia!
Jeffrey H. from Seattle, WA
She shows an easy mastery of her area of expertise. All the answers to my questions on grammar and usage seemed to be on the tip of her tongue. She has that wonderful and rare knack for making students feel at ease even when she is correcting them. Bravo!
Tina S. from Renton, WA
My goal for the tutoring was to improve my conversation skills. Lia combines this goal with a structured approach, reviewing grammar, etc. She has some formal training in teaching a language. This is exactly what I wanted.
