I am a certified elementary school teacher and I have a master's degree in special education. I have more than 20 hours towards a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a reading emphasis. I have experience working with students with a variety of special needs including but not limited to autism, learning disabilities, ADHD and severe behavior disorders. I have worked with many students with ADHD, including my own children. I know many strategies to help students who struggle with attention succeed. I utilize a more hands on approach teaching to help maintain student focus, such as utilizing frequent movement breaks. I have taught many lessons using a Twister mat!! The kids love it and hardly know they are learning!
