Here to make language arts learning successful for all students!
Dear parent/s: I have worked in the field of education for well over five years. I began my career as a substitute teacher during my undergraduate career, then worked as a Graduate Assistant in Southeastern Louisiana University's Library during my graduate career. Once I obtained my teaching certificate and Master of Arts degree, I began my teaching career. During my teaching career, I have taught grades 3, 6, 7.5 (remedial program), and 8-12 in English Language Arts. One year I was a r...
ADD/ADHD
My first year of teaching, I taught SPED classes 10-12 (English II, English III, and Business English) and the majority of my students were specific learning disability, although I did have one student with Asperger's. I created IEPs for these students and made sure to always utilize their accommodations consistently and efficiently. Since then, I have tutored and worked with students that have a broad range of learning disabilities, including ADD/ADHD.

I should begin by saying I have a very difficult child. My daughter has Asperger's Disorder and Oppositional Defiance. She can be very hard to manage. Julie has been with us for about three weeks now. She has done an AMAZING job with our daughter. She quickly earned Kate's trust and was quick to pick up on ques to redirect and reinforce her during lessons. The weeks leading up to Julie starting our daughter was earning the occasional B, but primarily C's & D's on weekly work. The first week Julie was with us she earned 5 A's and 1 B and this past week she earned all A's! In addition to the work with my daughter, Julie has been very respectful of our home, our family and our pets. She is a wonderful woman with a beautiful spirit. If you are looking for a tutor you can not go wrong with Julie!

Julie has just started reading/language arts with my 11 year old son. She has been very encouraging for him and is proving to be a good match. She has been timely and very open to discussing his needs/goals.

Julie is a wonderful person and a great tutor. My daughter is now grasping things she hasn't been able to in the past with Julie's help. My daughter and Julie communicate very well and have a good relationship. We are very lucky to have found her and you will be too!

I have gone to two tutor sessions with her and I feel like I am getting so much out of it. I am having trouble passing the reading section on the Praxis and she has been helping me a lot! Not only with the reading section but also with test anxiety which I tend to get right before I take these big tests! I would recommend her to anyone that is struggling. Just simply having someone there to talk to and go over problems together is helpful. I get to see how she solves the problems and it shows me what I should be thinking about when I am trying to solve the problems on my own. We have also discussed words to watch out for and little tips and tricks to do to help me conquer and master these standardize tests!
