Physics and Math Tutor: Improve Achievement and Enjoy the Subject!

In order to help you make the important decision concerning a tutor, let me give you a brief introduction: I have taught physics (from the college/honors levels to the AP levels (Mechanics/Electricity & Magnetism Level "C" with calculus and Level "B" without calculus) and mathematics (algebra 2; pre-calculus; calculus: differential/integral and multivariable). I have had forty-two years of teaching experience. I retired last June from a High School, and currently am tutoring students from ...

I never would have thought it possible, but my child now loves physics! Going from a very difficult start of the year, she has greatly enjoyed her tutoring sessions and there is never any struggle to get her there, in fact, she rearranges her activities just to make it. She has really grasped the concepts and her grades are steadily improving. Richard is a fantastic teacher and I just wish we had started with him at the outset!

Richard called me before the lesson explaining his background, tutoring experience and also found out from us my child's information such as the textbook he is using etc. he also left detailed notes after the lesson so that I had good idea what was covered and my child's strength and weakness in the subject. I have found it the communication extremely helpful. Besides, my child told me he liked the teacher and had found him helpful, which is the most important!

In only a few sessions with Richard, our 10th grade son's attitude towards Physics has changed completely. He now has a much greater understanding of the subject and, therefore, has begun to really enjoy it. Richard is very knowledgeable and patient, and his enthusiasm is infectious. Our son feels very lucky to have found him.

I met with Richard towards the end of my MCAT studying to review very specific concepts that were confusing me. Richard was able to quickly jump from one specific topic to another and draw connections between them, which was extremely helpful for MCAT in particular. Richard could quickly glance at my notes then explain in detail the proof and explanation for why a certain formula works. For example, I was confused about the force of gravity between two objects and gravitational potential energy and potential energy of an object in orbit. Richard showed me the proofs for all of the formulas and explained the relationship between them. He was extremely good at explaining a variety of MCAT physics problems and was very encouraging. In a short time, he helped me understand a lot of previously confusing concepts and I definitely feel like meeting with him helped improve my MCAT score.

Richard prepared my son for his Algebra 1 test by reviewing problems and teaching him shortcuts. He found the session to be very helpful.
