Tom
Experienced Tutor has worked with students from diverse backgrounds
I have a wealth of experience working with students from all kinds of backgrounds and age groups. In addition, I am licensed in Special Education and English. I try to cater the lessons and extra help to each student's particular strengths and areas where they need support. I am very flexible, but I do prefer to have at least 8 hours notice if there is a change in the schedule....
Aspergers
I have approximately 5-6 years experience working with children on the ASD spectrum. I have worked as direct aide to students with Aspergers in the past, and I am licensed through the state to work with students who have moderate disabilities for grades 5-12.
ADD/ADHD
I have approximately 8 years experience working with children with ADD/AHD.I have worked as both a 1:1 aide and classroom teacher for students that struggle with these issues. In my studies in special education, I have studied a great deal about the symptoms and consequences of ADD/ADHD. I believe I have a good grasp of the best practices that will help students succeed.

Rick R. from Wakefield, MA
Tom's positive attitude and understanding of my son's learning needs were very enlightening. He worked with our son in English, Math, Social Studies and Science. Tom developed an individual study program with my son who is in the 5th grade. Some examples, Tom would use flash cards for Social Studies. For Math, Tom would bring worksheets to review fractions and work with different strategies for breaking down fractions to the simplest form. Another example, Tom assisted on a science project in which he showed him different ways to lay out and develop a theme. The project was about Owls. Tom is patient and communicated openly about our son's strengths and weaknesses. Our son enjoyed working with Tom. He learned a lot of good fundamentals and strategies to take to the next level - 6th grade.
