Theory Meets Practice

I specialize in moving you from where you are to where you want to be. My style is a whole-life approach to learning. That is all. If I am familiar with it, I can teach you. In most cases, if I don't know it, I can teach myself and help you improve. My experience is that learning is both simple and pleasurable when you approach it with the right mind. I have a B.S. in Psychological Science from WPI (located in Worcester, MA) which is essentially an undergraduate degree in designing and ana...

Nathan in one session was able to capture the essence of what I was proposing to study for my doctoral dissertation. As soon as he sat down he was able to hone into the specifics of my project without any prior knowledge of the subject area. Finally, Nathan was able to explain stats to me in such a way I was able to grasp it right away. I definitely will be hiring Nathan down the road when I need help with the number crunching for my data collection.

I called Nathan in a panic. My son is taking an online Algebra 2 class and it's gotten so difficult that I can no longer help. I called Nathan and he returned my call in less then a hour or two and was able to meet with my son the following morning. He is very patient and encouraging. Great Tutor and I will def call him again!

I have really appreciated Nathan's willingness to think deeply about how to help my 11th grade son with his writing assignments, and more fundamentally, with figuring out how to master this intellectual challenge. Nathan goes beyond getting the task done and wants his students to have the tools to tackle the kinds of thinking and writing that they will need in college and even graduate school with intellectual integrity. Nathan recognizes that the technical skills for writing that are taught in school do not work for everyone and that at this stage, a student needs to develop his own system with some self awareness about it so that it can become a personal strategy for tackling writing tasks in college and a career. Sometimes the process seems slow (we benefit from longer, more frequent sessions) but Nathan is more of a coach than just a homework helper. Nathan is very smart, totally present, on time always, persistent and understanding.
