I am a member of the Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE) and invented the technology used by SMPTE to represent and identify the geospatial location of objects and entities in the Unique Material Identifier (UMID) metadata container. I am also a member of the an Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and invented the technology used by the IETF to represent and identify the geospatial location of objects and entities in the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Location Configuration Information (LCI) metadata container. I was previously the CTO of incubator company in the University of Maryland’s Technology Advancement Program that developed geospatial media applications for commercial use by SMPTE and the IETF. My educational background includes a BS in Information Technology and a MS in Information and Telecommunications Technology from Johns Hopkins University.

The computer technology I invented and patented includes a specialized data management algorithm that produces a geospatial digital object. The geospatial digital object identifies the location of anything at, above, or below the Earth’s surface. The GEOCODE® Algorithm is used to create a metadata container or “digital clapboard” for the movie and television industry. It’s also used as the digital signature for digital media clips. The GEOCODE® Algorithm is also part of the a Society of Motion Pictures and Television Engineers (SMPTE) standard. The GEOCODE® Algorithm is also part of the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standard used to represent and identify the geospatial location of objects and entities in the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Location Configuration Information (LCI) metadata container. It is used by the IETF and telecommunications industry as part of the OSI and IP protocol stack for identifying the location of digital information assets on digital telecommunication networks.
