I highly recommend Peter T to anyone looking to increase their child’s Algebra skills and confidence. Peter taught math for years, and clearly understands how to work with teens. My 14 year-old daughter needed to review her 8th grade Algebra over the summer in order to prepare for 9th grade Algebra at a competitive Massachusetts high school. Peter’s background in teaching Jr. High students allowed him to connect quickly with my daughter at her skill level and assess what math areas needed work. Peter focused on the interconnections between algebraic equations, and corresponding graphs and data tables. No one had ever explained this my daughter so clearly. My daughter had a positive reaction from the start, and completed homework between the lessons. She told us that Peter cleared up her understanding in areas that had previously confused her all year. That was after only a few lessons. Peter was patient during classes and is good role model for a young person. Peter used many real life examples to explain algebra concepts, such as the stock market, distances on a map of the Boston area, and the pricing of music concert tickets. This made the lessons more interesting and showed my 14 year-old daughter how algebra is used in real life, in situations that she could really relate to. Now it is Fall, and my daughter is working independently in the next level Algebra class in the sequence. She is more confident about her algebra skills, volunteers answers in class, and is able to complete her math homework on her own. Last year she needed my help to complete her math homework, so this is a big change.
