Edite showed up 5 minutes early and was professionally dressed and completely lovely. Unfortunately, have osteoarthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and ADD, I think I jumped in too quickly and should heed Doctor's advice and wait another 6 months before I begin to look for a tutor as they had told me that I would feel overwhelmed and stressed which would make my joints hurt. They were right. Anyone looking for a tutor, should request Edite though. For the time she was here she was gracious and charming and professional. I wish her nothing but the best in her future and apologize for having wasted her time.

I am learning Portuguese with Edite. She is a fantastic teacher and my experience has been very positive. Since I also speak Spanish, it is not common to find a gifted teacher like Edite who knows how to teach Portuguese to Spanish speakers. The class is structured. Edite is a patient, professional, and positive professor. She's able to target lessons based on the student's needs, which is incredibly helpful in my case. She has a great ability to boost one's confidence in language skills, which everyone needs. She's also adaptable. When I said I wanted more Portuguese spoken in the sessions, she picked it up immediately. When I asked for homework, she e-mailed me an assignment right away. We reviewed in class the next day, breaking down the translations, sentence structure, and pronunciation. Every now and again we lost focus and chit chatted about Brazil in general - a few cultural things - rather than focus on the lesson at hand. She's fun about it though and those cultural things are important too. I've impressed a few colleagues with my Portuguese and I've only been taking lessons a month, so I'm looking forward to continuing to learn the language with Edite when I come back from my trip to Brazil. All-in-all, I'd recommend Edite. As a student, you should be clear about expectations and desired needs. I laid out those expectations and needs and Edite met them.

Edite meets with us (2 adults) for 2.5 hours on Mondays and again for 2.5 hours on Tuesdays. She is teaching us the Portuguese language. Each student learns in a unique way, thus requiring from Edite the patience and tactics to meet the specific needs of each of us. As a tutor, she masters this challenge with grace and dignity, while contemporaneously keeping the sessions enjoyable. We could not have asked for a better human being to teach us. Mrs. Edite was very polite. In requesting a tutor for both Math (Algebra2/Trig) and Spanish, it was disturbing that Edite showed up at the designated location with her husband to teach the Math tutoring session. Edite stated her husband was an expert in math and it that was not communicated to me that she herself would not be tutoring my daughter in math. This is not allowed by the WyzAnt Tutor company and is against their policy. The tutoring sessions for math and Spanish were set up for two different days and Edite declined in the continuation of tutoring my daughter in Spanish, since I declined to continue with the math sessions. Edite stated that she had accepted to tutor Spanish because it was a package with Math, and that is fine, but it would be appreciated if she was honest in her profile.

My daughter missed all oh her 7th grade year due to health issues. As a result, she did not take foreign language until her 9th grade year oh high school.
