Math Counts... ALL DAY!

This is my 13th year teaching Mathematics and I have been exposed to several challenges along the way. Within my first two years of teaching, I taught Geometry to a hearing-impaired student and a visually-impaired student. During that time, in addition to teaching Mathematics, I taught one class of Spanish 1. I have taught and tutored students in Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Integrated Math, and Pre-Calculus. I am currently teaching 7th and 8th grade Math at a Charter school in the D...

As a parent, I couldn't be more pleased with Darees. She is committed to my daughter's success. The lesson was to be on a Saturday at the library but consequently we had a horrific snow storm! Instead of canceling the lesson altogether, Darees offered to do the lesson remotely. Since my daughter was desperate for help with her homework, they used email, text messaging and photos to get the work done and done correctly. That to me was going above and beyond! Kudos Darees!!!!

My daughter, who normally hates Math is now gaining a great appreciation for it due to Darees' teaching style and continued patience.

I really need to tell you about Ms. Darees because she really is something special. My son is studying geometry. Ms. Darees evaluated him and discovered the underlying problem was a weakness in algebra, so she helped him strengthened those skills which allowed him to understand the geometry lesson. She even gave him homework to do so that they could go over on their next visit. I'm lovin' it! Fast forward several weeks after tutoring with Ms. Darees. My son went from geometry scores of 28% to 95%. When I tell you Ms. Darees is someone very special, BELIEVE IT!! She really cares and takes time encouraging and guiding the student until they can do it on their own. Parents, I know you will get this metaphor: it literally reminded me of when I was a little girl and my dad was teaching me to ride a bike holding the back and handle bars running along side me until I was able to balance it and ride by myself. I really love her.
