ADD/ADHD
I have over 35 years of experience in mental health services provision, primarily in the area of children/youth and families. Many of those involved people - children and/or parents - with ADD or ADHD. As a K-12 tutor, I most often served classrooms with children labeled "emotionally impaired", many of them with ADHD and also served as a long-term sub and as a summer school teacher in K-6 "EI" classes.
autism
In my work as a child therapist in public mental health systems, I often worked with children with autism spectrum disorders and their parents. In the K-12 educational systems, I frequently "subbed" in classrooms which included children with autism spectrum disorders. In my most recent work in evidence-based mental health practices, I had to be familiar with approaches to assisting children with these disorders and their families. I have attended professional continuing education on this subject as well.
