Reading I've tutored reading as a self-employed worker and as a volunteer. I'm currently volunteering at Washtenaw Literacy in Michigan. This is my specialty. I offer each of my students the skills and knowledge they need for their personal learning style. I then train them in the application of these skills, according to their unique personality and social environment. I have been doing this work for 35 years, both in the USA and Germany.

I liked her energy and enthusiasm. We hoped for a tutor for our ninth grader who would provide concrete study skills and organizational skills as indicated in the profile. Although this particular tutor is enthusiastic and upbeat, the assessment period lasted many weeks and resulted in no concrete study skills that my daughter could apply in school. They worked on finding the best method for learning...quiet v. Music for example. However, we'd hoped that by several weeks in, there would be direction on test-taking tips/skill building, using a planner effectively, note taking etc. concrete skills. There was also a new agey vibe and talk of rocks and chi that was not a good fit for us. I would recommend a deeper conversation re: expectations as I believe Janee is a genuinely good tutor when the fit is right.
