I have been a ParaProfessional with Southfield Schools for over 18 years now, with the majority of my years with special needs children. I genuinely have a passion for Autistic Children. Autistic children need routine to feel secure & safe, and don't like their routine to be upset. Short and sweet direction. Some children respond better to pictures rather than words/direction. Positive reinforcements are huge with the Autistic child such as computers/ipads, music of their choice, tactile things such as clay, playdough, water, or sand.
