Microsoft Outlook

I have ten years of Outlook experience. I have used it to send, receive, filter, categorize, and organize messages. I have used the calendar to track appointments and send meeting requests. I have also used the task list function and other features. I have taught business writing, including how to use email effectively. This includes issues of clarity, etiquette, tone, and more.

Microsoft Windows

I have used Windows my whole career as a Web editor, communications manager, and teacher. In my recent role as an instructor at a technical college, I taught the first class students took, and some students had not used computers much before. I helped them get comfortable with Windows and the most common software on it. I can make technical subjects accessible to those with no technical background, so no matter what your current level is, I can help.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I have used PowerPoint in both academic and professional contexts. Most recently, I created slides for class discussions while teaching at a technical college. I also taught students how to create their own PowerPoint presentations. I can give you a foundation in the mechanics of the software as well as best practices for how to use it. I can teach you how to create and edit slides, achieve a consistent and professional design, understand the pros and cons of different transitions, and create engaging animations. Using PowerPoint effectively is as much about what to omit from a slide as what to put on it. I can teach you the purpose of slides and how to enhance your presentation rather than distract from it.

Microsoft Word has been a staple of my diet for more than a decade. I have used the software through my whole career as an editor and teacher as well as through two master's degrees. In my recent role as an instructor at a technical college, I taught Word along with other computer skills. I have regularly used many Word features: all types of formatting, tables, track changes, headers and footers, footnotes and endnotes, mail merges and labels, and more. I have successfully taught Word and other technical subjects to those who were not comfortable in those areas. I also worked for years in publishing, so I can offer insights on design, too.
