As a public school teacher I taught students who were learning English through immersion, and had success in helping them acclimate to the new language. In California and in Michigan I worked in after school "homework houses" that assisted students from Spanish speaking backgrounds learn to complete their homework in English. I discovered that patience and a willingness to learn a bit of Spanish led to success for the students I assisted.
