Highly Qualified Middle/Elementary School Math and Reading Tutor
I currently live in the University area of Charlotte and work in the Mint Hill area. I am open to tutoring close to my work, near the University area, or anywhere that would be on the drive home. I have 12 years teaching experience and am currently a middle school teacher certified in Special Education, Middle School Language Arts, and Middle School Math. dyslexia
I teach the Corrective Reading program for my students with Dyslexia. It is an intensive daily program that focuses on decoding, phonics, reading comprehension, and reading fluency. I also utilize colored overlays to assist with letter and word reversals, eye strain, and letter or word movement.
Aspergers
Currently, I am working with a student with Asperger's in my classroom, focusing on a social skills curriculum as well as academics. I have passed the Praxis exam in Special Education and am considered highly qualified in North Carolina.
ADD/ADHD
Over my 9 years experience teaching special education, I have taught students with ADHD every year. I currently work in the resource room designated for students with learning and behavioral difficulties in a middle school. There are several students with ADHD in my classes.
