ADD/ADHD

I have been a special education teacher for 19 years and have worked with many students with ADHD. I have also worked with students with ADHD in tutoring situations. In one of my teaching situations I worked with a local psychiatrist on determining appropriate medications and educational programming for a set of students. This experience helped me understand the complexities these individuals encounter and how to creatively address their deficits.

Aspergers

I have taught individuals with Asperger's for 10 years. During this time, I have developed social and communication lessons as well as ways to decrease social stress. My students have been involved in research projects where their personal interactions improved and stress levels decreased. My PhD is in this area. My dissertation topic was on epigenetics and individuals with high functioning autism.

autism

I have taught special education for 19 years. I have had exclusively autism classrooms for 7 years and was an itinerant autism support specialist for 1 year. I have set up 2 public school programs for individuals with high functioning autism. My PhD research involved students with autism.
