My Name is Erica P. and I am currently an 8th grade Language Arts Teacher in Onslow County. I have experience teaching all grade levels and am certified in both elementary and middle grades education. I began my teaching career as a special education collaborator, then worked as a tutor and as assistant director of education at a Sylvan Learning Center in Anchorage, Alaska. In my years as both a teacher and a counselor I have worked with many ADD/ADHD students. When I worked at a clinical day program, we specialized in ADD/ADHD students and helping them mainstream into public school.

Can't say enough about Erica. I am a long distance grandma who was more than distressed to hear in late Spring that my granddaughter would not be promoted to 1st grade. I hired Erica for tutoring twice weekly. She communicated effectively - with the teacher, local and distant family - enabling us to function more effectively as team in a short period of time. After 1.5 months of tutoring, in conjunction with more intensive school and home support, we were thrilled to hear the granddaughter achieved the scholastic milestones and would be promoted! Next step - a bunch of tests to assess suspected learning challenges - and Erica's detailed reports after each session will be valuable background for this psychoed and auditory testing. Erica was familiar with the needs of a child with suspected ADD, including varied material and multiple learning styles, as well as the kindergarten core curriculum.
