Elementary Reading and Math Skills Support
I am a licensed teacher who has worked with students over the last 20 years in K-5. I have enjoyed working with students that have struggled with reading and or math skills. I have also worked with students that had have learning disabilities i.e: attention deficit disorder, Autism anywhere along the spectrum. When working with the ADD/ADHD students in my class I would work with them one-on-one or in small group. I would present them with a problem and then I would set the timer for them to complete the problem. When first beginning with them they would get a great amount of time to complete one problem. As the year went on they would get shorter amounts of time. The students would also get smaller amounts of work to be done. They were also given time during their work to be able to read or play with a chosen item for a given amount of time and then would have to come back to the task at hand.

Lisa has really been a terrific tutor for our entering first grader. She's been working with him on strengthening his literacy skills, and brings the right mix of patience and push that he needed. Lisa worked to understand our son's interests and choose books and topics that engaged his imagination and interest, and kept him focused on the task at hand - not the easiest thing to do for a six year old at the end of summer! I'd highly recommend Lisa as a great tutor for elementary students.
