ADD/ADHD
I am a highly motivated and energetic educator with over fifteen years of experience, in special education, in and outside the classroom. I have a BA and MA in Special Education (Teacher of the Handicapped). I have had the pleasure of working with students from the preschool level through high school with various learning disabilities, especially ADD/ADHD. For the last eleven years, I have had the amazing opportunity to teach high school students at the freshman level, many of which have ADD/ADHD. I have worked with parents in monitoring behaviors in the classroom, implementing behavior intervention plans, finding techniques to help keep them focused, and monitoring affects of medication. In addition, I work with students at the elementary level during the extended school year program, which also have ADD/ADHD, improving writing, fluency, reading comprehension, phonics, and spelling. I have worked in self-contained, pull-out replacement, one-on-one and inclusion settings. Being a special education teacher has given me the opportunity to explore various study skills in order to meet the needs of my students. I start with one study method, and continue until we find a method that is successful for that particular student.
Aspergers
I am a highly motivated and energetic educator with over fifteen years of experience, in special education, in and outside the classroom. I have a BA and MA in Special Education (certified Teacher of the Handicapped). I have had the pleasure of working with students from the preschool level through high school with various learning disabilities, Aspergers being one. For the last eleven years, I have had the amazing opportunity to teach high school students at the freshman level, three of which were Aspergers. These students were mainstreamed into the general education classroom, and I was the inclusion teacher. I have worked with parents and students in monitoring behaviors in the classroom, finding techniques to help keep him/her focused, finding a ways to motivate the student to be involved in the classroom and with peers, creating "trigger" words to help with student's concentration and success, as well as study methods that work for the student. In the past, during the extended school year program, I worked in a self-contained classroom with students with Autism and Aspergers at the preschool, kindergarten, and high school levels. Being a special education teacher has given me the opportunity to explore various skills in order to meet the needs of my students; every student learns differently. I start with one method, and continue until we find a method that is successful for that particular student.

As a freshmen in college who is struggling with academics, I feel extremely relieved after meeting with Nichole. She gave me some really helpful note-taking tips that will make comprehending the material a lot easier when I go back to study. We covered a wide range of topics during the session and it wasn't overwhelming at all. I would recommend her to anyone!
