Mallory helped me with a description paper I had due. I was very nervous and hesitant about starting at all. She gave me an exercise just to get writing, and when I was intimidated by that as well, she broke it down into another simpler exercise. We went over descriptive writing in general, to make sure I understood what my school was asking. Then, we went into the assignment when I felt more comfortable, and was excited to write. It ended up where I was looking around the room, eager to describe it in a unique way and think of a different scene entirely that it reminded me of. We hardly noticed when the time was up, and she gave me a list of things that we had come up with, so that I could finish it up and turn it in. I got 100% and feel a lot more confident with descriptive writing. This was all done online, which was very helpful as I go between houses. She stayed patient no matter how frustrated I was, and was very relatable.

We have had 5 English lessons with Mallory for my 16 year old son and have already seen an improvement on how he deals with English. He is challenging (an understatement). There is probably no one who hates school (especially English) more than my son. After our last lesson, he told me that he really likes Mallory. I almost cried. Honestly, she is only about the third teacher he has EVER liked. I asked him why and he said, "She just gets me". I'm almost crying now as I write this because that is such an extraordinary comment coming from my son. He told me that he appreciates that she doesn't get so hyper-focused on whether or not he's looking at her when she speaks or if he fidgets with a pencil when she's explaining something. He knows that she understands he is still listening...in his own way. He respects that she doesn't put up with his shenanigans when he tries to delay the lesson and she calmly keeps him on task. And she recognizes that he's really smart. She respects who he is and understands his learning style. AND, as a bonus, he told me that she's actually teaching him something. He told me she has taught him more in five lessons than he has ever learned in any class. Mere words cannot express our gratitude. I highly recommend Mallory as a tutor. We will keep her as long as she is willing to come!

I needed a tutor for English and reading for an exam I was taking when I found Mallory. Mallory really took time to understand what exactly I had to study for the exam. When I finally took the exam, I had noticed a big change in the way I answered questions and was able to comprehend what the questions were asking.
