Hello, I am an Instructional Assistant (aka TA) at a local public school. I work with students in General & Special Education in Writing, Math, Social Studies, Science, Reading and Social Skills. At the local school district, I work with students with Autism. I have dealt with challenges of daily living, social skills and with behavior issues due to non compliance. In this instance, I found it best for the students to earn a reward showing positive behavior. Every child with Autism is different and has their own set of challenges. The key is to be able to pair with them. To understand their world and then you can help them succeed. I have taken Professional Development workshops in Autism through POAC and the local school district.
