elementary math

Since I am competent in math levels up to and including Algebra 2, Elementary Math is, well, elementary. I have successfully tutored kids as young as 5th grade, as well as older kids, and even adults who are still trying to figure out basic math.

English

ESL/ESOL

Technically, I'm Bi-Lingual. I speak Armenian, as well as English. My family is Armenian. My Mother was born and raised in Istanbul, Turkey. She didn't know English well when she moved to the US. When I was growing up, and in adult life, I was always helping her to improve her English. She did well over the years in learning English and retaining it. I feel that my experience in teaching her, qualifies me to teach others who are wanting to learn the language. I don't speak Spanish or any other language, but as long as a student can speak some English, I can teach them to speak it better.

Have been using Outlook for the last 15 years for both work and personal use. I know how to use the contacts and scheduling portions, but not the email portion.

Microsoft Windows

I've been using Windows-Based PC's for the last 26 years now. I'm a semi-retired Engineer who worked in the computer field since joining Apple Computer in 1982. After leaving Apple in '87, I switched over to the Windows operating system for home use, and have been using Windows-Based PC's ever since. I use my system at least 6 hours a day. As far as the versions go, I started with Windows 2.0 in '87, then 3.0, 3.1, and eventually Windows '95 in 1995. Since then, I've also used Windows '98, Windows ME, Windows XP, and currently Windows 7.

I've had trouble in the past with math in general, but I truly believe I'm beginning to understand it! As of now, it is only been two days and I'm retaining the information that is being taught. I wish I could say I understand it all in one day, but that would be to good to be true. So, I will admit I feel more confident in the few skills I've learned with the time we've put in. I'm glad to have Art help me out because he wants to make sure I succeed.

I'm glad I found Art. It's a jungle out there and WyzAnt makes it easy to come out ahead with people like Art.

I've tried for a long time to get my daughter into math. She hates it more than anything and it seems like she may have a hard time learning it from me. With her in her senior year, it's imperative she passes all her math classes, which is why I knew it was time to get a tutor. After one lesson with Art, my daughter is already talking about what she learned, which is completely different than usual. She likes how he teaches. She says he's very knowledgeable and understanding about different speeds of learning. She's already looking forward to the next lesson. This is what I was looking for, and Art made it happen, even after only one lesson. He made a great first impression which I think is everything to a teenager and who they're learning from.

Art is very knowledgeable and helpful. He tutored my son for ISEE math and helped tremendously to break down the steps and make it easy to understand. I would recommend him highly.

Todd M. from Henderson, NV

If you miss one lesson he will charge you no matter what. I would use someone else.

My kids are studying to take the ISEE. Both kids are smart but need help not just with some of the skills but with test taking. Art has been patient and very diligent with working with them both.

Art has helped me so much in such a short time in preparing for my nursing entrance exam (HESI). He is very patient and explains in detail and helps work out the problems. I highly recommend him!!!

Growing up I relied on a calculator, Now that I'm a adult in my career I use one day to day! After working with Art I see great value in learning how to do the math in my head or on paper so I'm not so depended on a calculator. Art is wonderful patient and understanding. I'm excited to see what I score on my ASVAB with his help! Thanks Art!
