Aspergers

Having a child with Asperger's Syndrome and having had Asperger's myself as a child, I believe I have a better understanding of how their brains process, function and "think" per say. I have been an Autism advocate for 5 years, starting support groups, fundraisers, and basic training in what Asperger's Syndrome is versus full Autism. Having been in higher end psychology classes that work with the APA's DSM-IV, I was required to write a 35 page dissertation regarding Asperger's and its many facets. Social skills and basic understanding of them tend to be the most difficult part for children that are high-functioning Autistic. It's a day in/day out work in progress that can last a lifetime but being as educated as possible on the subject allows for some ease to help them learn at their own level.
