ADD/ADHD

I am a special education teacher currently working with children who are ADD/ADHD in the classroom, among other disabilities, and I use different approaches in learning. For example, exercise is definitely included in activities due to the fact they have so much energy, breaks are given in between activities, and activities have to be kinetic and tangible in order for the child to stay focused.

autism

I am a special education teacher for grades 1-3 , although the Dept of Education does not give a "test " for teaching autistic children I have from experience (11 yrs) worked with children who are autistic. I currently am tutoring a high functioning autistic child who is in the first grade. Materials used are from the core curriculum however modified to meet your child's "functioning" level. I use the Edmark Reading Program that uses basic sight words in conjunction with pictures and sentences. Everything I use use tangible ..autistic children work well when using things they can touch, feel. I also use songs to teach comprehension, sequencing.
