Hello. My name is Charlie S. and I greatly enjoy helping students understand subjects that challenge them. I have a Master's Degree in Public Administration from Lewis and Clark College and a Bachelor's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Oregon. As a part of my coursework for Learning Disabilities certification at the University of Oregon, I was required to study the field of autism. I also student taught in a Special Education classroom that had several autistic students. After completing my initial Learning Disabilities coursework, I took additional courses at Western Oregon State College that covered autism. As a Learning Disabilities Teacher, I had students who were classified as autistic. Finally, I have also privately tutored autistic students.
ADD/ADHD
I took 30 hours of Graduate level courses in Learning Disabilities as an undergraduate at the University of Oregon and became certified in the State of Oregon as a Learning Disabilities teacher. I also spent 3 months as a student teacher in a classroom with special education students. In addition, I took 24 graduate hours in Sppecial Education at Western Oregon State College. I spent two years as a classroom teacher in a self-contained elementary Learning Disabilities classroom (I had several students who had a diagnosis of ADD) and one year as a classroom teacher in a self contained junior high school Learning Disabilities classroom. I am currently Certified (Permanent Certification) by New York State in Special Education. I have received appropriate training and have significant classroom experience in the area of ADD/ADHD and would be an excellent tutor in this area.
