We love Ms. Laurie. She has been amazing helping our son gain confidence in his reading, and I can see major improvements. She is very patient, very helpful with information and suggestions.

A willing student with complex language learning deficiencies met her match with this multi-faceted professional. Skilled and experienced, Ms. Laurie M. is nevertheless keenly diagnostic as she explores the tools necessary to maximize this child's potential. The student is responding most positively.

Laurie connected well with our 5th Grader Hannah and not only understood her needs but left her motivated and encouraged after their hour together. A great resource for our child.

Laurie has been tutoring my son for the last two months to improve his writing such as book response and book report, research paper, and writing projects in school. My son is a fifth grader. He is a great reader, but only interested in reading humorous books. He found it very difficult to get started in any writing and can not give enough details and make the paragraph flow. Therefore, his writing is very short, about 6 sentences. As the first step, Laurie has recommended some humor books, then slowly introduced great books (must read books) with different genre books for him to read. She will check his reading comprehension, improve his writing structures to be more concise and ask him questions if the sentences are not clear as they both edit and revise together. After 1 month, he has improved his writing from about 6 sentences to 1 to 1.5 page length with a good flow and he is becoming less reliant on Laurie. Laurie will continue to work with Ivan in his writing for higher writing level. Laurie is a highly experienced tutor and I would recommend anyone to her.

I highly recommend Laurie. Her tutoring skills are only outmatched by her ability to connect with your child. My son was resistant to having a tutor but from the first session, he was captivated by Laurie's warmth and humor. She is skilled in all areas of language arts and he is making steady improvements every week. I can't say enough good things about her. She is awesome.

Laurie is so knowledgeable regarding working with a child with dyslexia. Her friendly demeanor allows for the child to feel comfortable right away. We are very thankful that we found Laurie to tutor our 7th grade son.

When I first came onto the WyzAnt website, I was at a point where I knew I needed help. I was still very apprehensive about seeking help for my inability to comprehend what I read. I went through the process, and I found Laurie. She and I met and discussed my background in reading, learned about my frustrations while reading, and gave me a small test in the initial consultation to find out where I was. All along, she was very understanding and thorough. She helped put me at ease and she was very encouraging. We agreed to proceed with lessons. I was still a bit nervous, but I knew there was a real sense of urgency to get my reading woes addressed. I had a very productive first lesson with her! Laurie was able to put me at ease with seeking help and about reading. She was very encouraging with me. I plan to keep working with her for however long it takes me to get to a solid level of reading comprehension. Laurie is outstanding at what she does! I would encourage any parent, student or adult who is concerned about their reading skills to contact Laurie and meet with her. I highly recommend her! You won't be sorry.
