College Adviser & SAT/ACT English/Reading Tutor - Harvard Grad

For my full time job, I am the director of a college preparatory program for students around New York City. I work very closely with staff and students in order to ensure that 100% of the students we work with apply to college, and that all of them enroll in schools that will not charge them full tuition. On my own time, I love to work individually with students to make sure that they have all the resources necessary to succeed in school. I began tutoring while at Mount Holyoke College, wher...

elementary (k-6th)

I have been tutoring students in various Elementary (K-6) subjects for over 8 years. As a child, I was in elementary and middle school gifted programs and use this knowledge to create independent curriculum for students with whom I have worked. Through targeted practice, I have been able to increase reading levels, and have students excel on standardized examinations. I have a Master's in Education from the Harvard University, where I studied Education Policy and Management.

Common Core

I studied the Common Core curriculum at Long Island University-Brooklyn Campus and subsequently used this in my classroom as a public high school teacher in New York City. I continued this study at the Harvard Graduate School of Education and have used it in my work at my school access organization. This has allowed me to teach students individually and to tutor them in subjects for which they struggle.

Liz S. from Brooklyn, NY

We worked on the Common app/college essay; we brainstormed ideas; feedback was very helpful; and Geraldine was amiable and easy to talk to.

Maria L. from Forest Hills, NY

Unusually good at finding the student's weak spots and coming up with remedies. Very clear, intelligent and creative in her approaches.
