Being a good tutor is more than knowing the subject matter in which you are tutoring, it is also about being creative, personable, engaging and patient. If you do not have these traits, your knowledge of the subject matter alone will serve little or no purpose as a tutor/teacher. My son was very apprehensive about working with a tutor, even a little nervous. When we met Michael, he immediately made my son and I feel very comfortable. He was also able to quickly assess where my son was weakest, without me telling him much, and proceeded to patiently work with him to improve his math skills in those areas. Michael also showed my son different and creative ways to understand and solve the equations that he was working on. The second visit was even better than the first, as my son was eagerly anticipating his tutoring session. I am very pleased and thankful for the improvement in confidence and knowledge of the subject matter that my son has displayed over the first two weeks. Michael has been a great help and I would recommend him highly.

My daughter who is going into her junior year, received a 90 in her geometry class as her final grade, but she did not pass the regents. She received a 54 on the geometry common core and a 56 on the "old" geometry. My daughter is very serious about her grades and was very upset when she received her scores, she didn't understand how she received a 90% in class grade and such low scores on the regent exams. I must admit, I was a little confused also and did not know how to answer her question. Michael held 12 tutoring sessions with my daughter, he started with the a basic review of geometry eventually covering everything they covered during the school year. He was very patient, very thorough, and very understanding. Michael was open to questions. He was really good about explaining the whole concept and in doing so he made sure that she understood the "why". My daughter re-took her regents exam last week, and we just received the grades......I am super happy to report that she received an 84% on the "old" geometry regents, and a big beautiful 88% on the common core regent exam! My daughters confidence in herself has been restored and for that I am grateful. Thank you Michael for the time you spent helping my daughter to understand the "whys" in geometry. I cannot put into words how grateful we are. Thanks for building up my daughters confidence and thanks for bringing back her smile. You. Are. The. Best.
