Experienced Teacher
I am a teacher of 17 years. I have taught in the area of special education for most of these years and also taught in 2nd grade for a year. My special education experience includes Multiple Disabilities, Life Skills, Self-Contained, and Autism. To tutor a student, I would try various approaches until we find one that works. I would also try to find something that interests the student to try to incorporate it into the lessons....
ADD/ADHD
My experience with ADHD has been in the resource room for 7 years. I also have had students with ADHD in my classroom for the last 17 years at one time or another. I have taught K-6. I know that students with ADHD need small bits of information and frequent breaks.
autism
I taught the last 3 years in an Autism classroom. I had students that ranged from severe to students that could be placed in the regular classroom. We worked on behaviors and socialization together.
