For the past eight years I have been teaching Spanish in an elementary, private school setting in Hyde Park full time and tutoring since college. I recently completed a double M.Ed. in Literacy and TESOL at the University of Cincinnati and have a passion for teaching and helping others. Aspergers
For the past three years in an elementary setting, I have worked with two families and their son and daughter, both of whom have Aspergers. A little extra help can go a long way. Also, I have worked with children with many issues that may alter the learning process. I am eager to help.
ADD/ADHD
I have had 7 years of experience working with children of all ages with ADD/ADHD as well as epilepsy in classroom settings to private home tutoring sessions. I find that the one on one can be extremely beneficial in that the focus is primarily on the student. The distractions are very limited.

4/6 - We have only barely 50 days for the end of the year and my kid needed help on the phonic sounds and day to day conversations to move to 1 st grade from KG. She missed 3 months of her academic due to personal fail issues. We met Leah and my kid mingled with her straightaway. Leah started session in the first day, she started working with vowels and statement we may use every day like 'you are welcome, thank you.' 4/7 - Leah worked on the consonants and continued vowels. My kid enjoys the time with Leah and she started answering to questions in statements. Leah engaged her in public conversations like ordering a coffee in Starbucks etc. 4/10 - Leah continues her sessions. 4/12 - My kid had a great day today, yes she got a chance to play with other local kids during the play dates. Leah worked with her and engaged her on friendly conversations. My kid always had fear about dogs but today we noticed she played with dogs which is big relief, she will not fear for dogs here after. Leah will work with my kid on the questioning and stories/vocabularies going forward. 4/16 to 4/19 - Leah worked very hard with my kid on every day manners and phonic sounds. She has also started concentrating on the directions and upper case letter writing. As per our request Leah is teaching vocabularies and she is using the 1st grade materials to teach my kid, which should be very helpful for her to catch up to the speed. She started interacting with my kid's class teacher and collecting kid's weakness details to work hard on those stuffs. 5/3 - 5/4 - My kid has improved a lot in following 1.Phonic Sounds 2.Talking long sentences and using past tense whenever needed. 3.Comprehension 4.Everyday manner s 5.Upper/Lower case letter writing 6.Incorporating date and time in her school worksheets. 7.Telling/Writing small stories 8.Following Directions/Learning Vocabularies Leah has been great and she is understandable. We are very lucky to work with Leah, Leah is committed and flexible always!! Thanks Leah.

My son's step-daughter had a great first lesson with Leah! She enjoyed the session, learned from it, and is looking forward to the next. Leah was very prepared: she brought age-appropriate materials, had a homework plan, and was ready to make adjustments after assessing her student's reading level. Leah is very friendly, enthusiastic, and experienced. We are glad to be working with her and are confident that our student will make great strides.
