My son is not happy about being tutored. He sees it as "just more math work." Today Elaine brought a bag of parts from a few dismantled calculators. He thought this was pretty cool. He is very interested in how things work - Elaine picked up on that and used it as a way to connect.

My daughter has been tutored throughout her grade school and high school years. She has special learning needs and has great difficulty focusing and retaining information. Elaine has worked with my daughter twice a week for the past several months. She has been excellent in motivating my daughter to try different approaches to learning and remembering material. She has been instrumental in improving my daughter's self-esteem and sense of purpose. My daughter has done well in her post-secondary education program and much of her success can be attributed to Elaine for her excellent work with my daughter. Elaine is very patient with my granddaughter. She is learning a lot and we are very happy with her instructions. We highly recommend her for tutoring. We chose Elaine to tutor our son in math because of her strong background in math and also her background in preparing for the ASVAB. Not everyone learns in the same way. Elaine takes the time, much of her own time, to determine your child's learning style. As our son progressed, you could see the confidence on his face. Elaine not only believed in our son but was also a great cheerleader. She clearly loves teaching and seeing your child succeed. We highly recommend Elaine. My daughter's biggest challenge with school has always been showing that she knows how to do something. Elaine was able to get her to sit down and do the task at hand to show that she did know how to spell her words and she did know how to read. I asked my daughter what she thought since it was her lesson and my daughter was resistant to having a tutor. I was shocked when she said she liked it and learned from Ms. Elaine. Ms. Elaine gave my daughter some useful tools and concepts to understand basic Math (multiplication and division). My daughter did have a few Common Core math equation which was little more tricky and needed a bit more time from tutor. Overall I enjoyed and more importantly my daughter enjoyed the tutoring experience. In addition Ms. Elaine is a great communicator.
