Coming from Singapore, I am bilingual in English and Chinese. I graduated from JCU with a double major in English and East Asian Studies. I wanted a tutor to help my son with his verbal communications skills for Chinese. She came in and started talking with him and was able to access his skill level, asked to see the materials that he had worked with during his summer course and what they had covered during the school year. Then she understood the full range of his exposures as well as his own skills and began helping him focus on the tones that he was producing imperfectly. This was a problem that he knew that he had that he just could not fix. The one-on-one allowed him to focus on this without embarrassment. After practicing 30-40 times your ear can really start to 'hear' the tones. They worked on several other things that my son wanted clarification on. It was a great first session. I highly recommend Hui Sian.
