Learn ASL (Sign Language). Ages infant to adult.

My name is Cynthia. I am a Nationally Certified Interpreter for the Deaf. I have a degree in ASL to English Interpretation with Cum Laude honors, and I'm the founder of Sign Baby Sign.org. I'm currently a full time interpreter in a High School setting, and part-time community freelance interpreting. I have taught sign language clubs in school and church for 5 years, tutored budding interpreters to help them pass the certification test, and I work with parents who wish to teach their babies ...

autism

As a Nationally Certified Interpreter, I have been working with children with autism (and their parents) for 5 years in our local hospital settings under the direction of therapists. Many times, autistic children become frustrated due to the lack of being able to communicate. I can offer my interpreting services to educate the parent and caregivers to begin/continue using sign language of a mode of communication.

hard of hearing

special needs

For the past 5 years I have been working in school settings with children with special needs where there is low functioning communication capability and/or hearing challenges. I can offer the parent and child a way to begin putting aside the frustrations and tantrums in exchange for using sign language to improve understanding what your child is wanting/needing from you or their caregiver. With my National Certification and desire to support children with special needs, I believe I can offer a different approach to make one part you life as little easier.

We were so lucky to get a hold of Cynthia. She is kind, patient, knowledgeable, and an expert in her field. My daughter loves her.

On first meeting Cynthia put my son at ease and made him confortable. He did not feel bad about his struggles in sign language. She provided him with recordings to go over at home. Looking forward to much success with Cynthia.
