ADD/ADHD

While working with my present employer in tutoring students I have worked with 3 students who have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD in various subject areas over the last three years. I've learned to meet them where they are, and engage them in the learning activity so that learning takes place. My present employer specializes in helping kids with all types of learning disabilities, and I have sat in on several IEP meetings for these types of kids over the years as well as construct lesson plans that keep them involved with what they are trying to learn. I've also incorporated Kinesthetic activities to ward off some of the attention deficit.

Aspergers

In 2010 I worked with a high school student who had Aspergers, in order to do ceramics. I found him to be creative, smart, funny, and innovative. Currently (2013) I work with another young man with Aspergers who is in Junior High and we are doing Digital Photography. He is a gentleman, picks up on things easily, smart, and we have a lot of fun while studying and practicing photography. So I have had the ability to work with both of these students in regular subjects and both have been successful in what they are studying.

Melanie is doing a wonderful job with my son! I couldn't have asked for a better tutor. I always give her 5 stars, and I would recommend her to anyone who has a difficult child. She is very patient and has a great imagination when coming up with games to teach my son to read!!!
