Intervention Specialist with Orton-Gillingham training

Each method will depend on the individual needs, strengths and weaknesses of the student. Every student learns differently and my job is to find out how each student learns and tailor my methods to the student. I would do a lot of hand-on activities to explain the concept and use a lot of manipulatives which will be visual to the learner. I will use movement or pictures for vocabulary if needed. I will use graphic organizers if students are having trouble understanding what they are reading...

ADD/ADHD

Students with ADHD need to stay focused which is hard for them. Students have short attention spans so a teacher may need to not stay on one thing for too long. Teachers also need to find a way to engage students. I have my licensure in mild to moderate intervention specialist where I can teach a wide variety of students with learning disabilities. I also student taught in an elementary school as an intervention specialist and taught ADHD, CD, and students with learning disabilities.
