Lots of Patience - Lori
My name is Lori, and I have a lot of experience working with students. I have tutored reading and been a teacher for grades k-8. ADD/ADHD
I have worked with many students with ADHD and have been able to keep their attention and get them to learn by playing games and finding unique activities for them to do while learning. While working with these students, I find activities that they are interested in, such as animals or dinosaurs. I use that information to make learning fun and exciting. I also find ways for students to be well prepared and organized before working on classwork. For example, one way to do this would be having individual folders for their subjects.
Aspergers
I have worked one-on-one with students, by helping with social skills, doing social stories and helping them find interests and ways to cope with everyday situations. I have tutored students on subjects they have had difficulties with such as math and reading.
autism
I have worked with students with Autism for the last 12 years. I have worked on everyday skills such as getting dressed, social skills, and social studies. I have also done ABA and tutoring with these students. I have improved the student's ability to work on school work and learn how to accomplish everyday goals.
