Aspergers
I am a certified teacher and have worked at a charter school specifically for students with Asperger's syndrome for the past seven years. In my class, I teach social skills along with the curriculum, tailored specifically for students with Aspergers who have difficulties reading social cues and getting along with others. I have had training in crisis prevention, Brain Gyms, and behavior management in the classroom. I have written IEP goals, taught using differentiated instruction to students at a variety of learning levels, and have had extensive training in managing behaviors related to Aspergers. Some of the students I've enjoyed working with most have been students with Aspergers, because they have such vivid imaginations and it's so much fun to see what they'll think of next.
autism
I am a certified teacher with the state of Ohio. The school I have taught at for the past seven years has a student population that is largely autistic. Most of the students I have worked with are in the mild-moderate range on the autism spectrum. I have written IEP goals, taught using differentiated instruction to students at a variety of learning levels, and have had extensive training in managing behaviors related to autism. In my class, I teach social skills along with the curriculum. I have had training in crisis prevention, Brain Gyms, and behavior management in the classroom. I have experience in calming down distressed students, giving students choices to help them be successful in their work, and helping them to get along with their peers.
