I just completed six years of service in the Navy, where I was part of the SONAR crew on a destroyer. As part of my job, I often got to give my juniors on-the-job training in doing maintenance of our equipment and performance of our duties. I really enjoyed the one-on-one format of this teaching that I got to do, and I'm looking forward to carrying that over into helping students in my academic areas of expertise, which are modern history and English.
