Logan

Supportive and Knowledgeable Math, Physics, and Engineering Tutor

I majored in Philosophy and minored in Mathematics in college. I tutor math, physics, general engineering, writing and test prep for high school, college and adult students. I also work with mentally disabled, ADD, autistic and bipolar students. During college, I worked as a network engineer, chef and tutor. I teach in a logical and straightforward manner and try to cultivate my students' personal understanding of the material. I accomplish this by giving them plenty of questions and example...

Microsoft Windows

Working knowledge of Windows 98/XP/2000/NT/7/Server2K3/Server2K8/Active Directory/Exchange Servers/A+ Certified

classics

As a philosophy major in the humanities department in college I studied a wide range western and eastern classical texts, from the ancient Greeks and Romans to Chinese. Authors included: Homer, Confucius, Plato, Aeschylus, Aristophanes, Herodotus, Hesiod, Aristotle, Mencius, Cicero, Lucretius, Virgil, Du Fu, Li Po and more. I also studied classic texts from the middle ages to 19th century, including: Bingen, St. Aquinas, Ockham, Boccaccio, Ariosto, Descartes, Bacon, Locke, Leibniz, Hume, Rousseau, Cao Xueqin, Kant, Goethe, Bentham, Mill, Baudelaire and Dostoyevsky.

DOS

I have working experience with the DOS OS since Windows 3.1 in the early 1990s. At that time DOS was integrated as the backbone of the Windows OS under the moniker MS-DOS and was required for software/hardware installation and diagnostic/backup/repair tools. Its essential role was removed from Windows OS with the release of Windows 7, but has since remained included as an efficient way for system admins, network technicians, programmers, and power users to interact with their OS. Several diagnostic/networking/programming tools are still used most easily or exclusively through the DOS interface.

logic

I took "Logic & Critical Thinking I & II," "Philosophy of Logic," and "Discrete Mathematics" as a philosophy major and mathematics minor in college. Topics include: syllogistic logic, propositional logic, quantificational logic, modal logic, deontic and imperative logic, predicate logic, metalogic, many-valued logics, classical/non-classic logics, and more.

general music

I played the trumpet for seven years, from grade school to high school. I tried-out and was accepted as part of the city and state symphony for a couple of years. I was regularly first or second chair in concert and jazz band. I took AP Music Theory in 9th grade; and Music Appreciation and Exploring Beethoven's Piano Sonatas as humanity electives in college. Over the years I've continued my love of music and currently own over 3,500 albums in areas from classical, jazz, electronic, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, hip-hop, world music and more. I have a deep knowledge of genres, sub-genres, artists, producers, record labels, history, and more.

networking (computer)

I am CCNA and Network+ certified and was a Cisco network engineer during and after college. Topics include: OSI/TCP/IP models, subnetting, network protocols (such as EIGRP, RIPv2 and OSPF), network security with ACLs, port blocking and firewalls, VLANs, NAT/PAT, IPv6 and more.

Very helpful and kind! He was able to teach the information so my son could understand it. My son is even looking forward to his next session .

Sandi R. from Edmond, OK

Logan is extremely patient and supportive. He always makes sure that my daughter grasps the subject at hand before moving on.

Jaimie L. from Oklahoma City, OK

Logan tutored me in Physics. He was extremely knowledgeable and made the material easy to understand. He was patient and kind, and I look forward to more sessions so I can conquer this subject!

Nadya J. from Yukon, OK

Logan is very organized and gets right to the point. He does not waste your time with irrelevant things. He is patient and will explain the topic in any way he can until you fully grasp the concept. Amazing tutor A++

Mitch P. from Edmond, OK

Logan does a great job of helping you understand the concepts, then provides you with problems to help build upon that understanding. Furthermore, he helps by giving you problems that are more difficult than the AP test so that away when you test in class, it seems easier.

Lauren K. from Oklahoma City, OK

This is an interesting situation in that I hired Logan not for myself or my child, but as a professional third party representative of another individual who had been awarded tutoring through legal proceedings. Long story short, Logan was very responsible and easy to work with. He was patient with the client, even though the client was not always on time and would sometimes not show up. Logan always prepared lesson plans and promptly emailed me a detailed review of what he and the client worked on that day. I appreciated both his ability to be a patient tutor (as reported to me by the client) but to also keep me informed (as required for Court proceedings). Logan always called and emailed me if there was a problem, and always did exactly what he said he would do and what was asked of him. I recommend him without hesitation.

Destiny W. from Bethany, OK

I needed help with physics to pass a technical interview for my job. The first round technical interview I had went poorly-I received a 0/10 for the physics portion. I was given another chance to interview, so I hired Logan to tutor me in Physics I topics so I could improve my score and move onto second round interviews. Logan and I met twice a week for a month and he always came prepared with material relevant to the topics I needed to master. He was patient and re-explained topics if I wasn't understanding. He gave me extra problems to work outside of the tutoring sessions so I could ask questions about them if I didn't understand a concept. I was able to improve my physics interview score from a 0/10 to a 9/10! I moved onto the second round interviews and passed them as well. Thanks to hard work and dedication from both Logan and myself, I landed my dream job. I highly recommend Logan as a tutor-his tutoring sessions are a great investment of time and money.

Gene W. from Tulsa, OK

Logan was extremely helpful in my studying for the ACT. My scores on subject tests raised 3-5 points! He explains things thoroughly and gives plenty of helpful practice, making sure you understand everything you're doing. Couldn't ask for a better tutor! :)

Derek S. from Oklahoma City, OK

This lesson was so good. Tory was afraid she might have to drop the class but feels much more confident after the lesson.

Lauren I. from Mustang, OK

We are starting our 2nd school year with Logan and we have been very happy with his help for our daughter. We have also referred a couple of her friends and they have worked with him as well.
