I have extensive experience working in special education; I worked as an assistant for many years as I completed my college degree for teaching. I have been a licensed as a Special Education teacher for 19 years. I taught a life skills class for 3 years and have been an Autism Specialist for 17 years. Because of working in these positions, I am skilled in many areas: 1. I have worked with many types of students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 2. Working as a consultant, I gained valuable experience working with others and dealing with difficult situations. 3. I am very skilled at behavior management, which includes conducting Functional Behavior Assessments, developing behavior plans and establishing safety plans. 4. I know many strategies that work with students with special needs; Structured Teaching, PRT, STAR, PECS, Social Stories, DT, social skills and social cognition groups and visual systems. I have also been trained in the Ziggart model for behavior. I have also developed in services and trained others on how to use these strategies.
