Adobe Photoshop

I have worked as a graphic designer and Photoshop artist for many companies and private clients. I have knowledge from CS3 to CC. The best way to learn Photoshop is through hands-on exploration, so I like to act as a guide more than a tutor!

GED

My specialty is in reading and language arts, history and science. I have been a GED tutor for over six years, working independently with students and in groups. I know how to make learning fun, and will work with each student to determine the best strategy for absorbing facts. For writing, I take a more creative approach, backed by my experience in tutoring creative writing and the knowledge I've learned from pursuing an MFA in fiction. I make learning about grammar fun instead of torturous with this creative method!

theatre

I have taken graduate level courses in theatre history, and have written several short plays and an opera libretto (forthcoming). As a stage hand, I have a working knowledge of how plays operate, and I have worked as a set designer and builder. Most recently I have studied the French and American theatre genres.

social studies

My experience tutoring 5th graders in Social Studies, and my two year job as a teacher's aid to the same 5th grade class, gives me a working insight of the necessary requirements and teaching methods for a social studies class. I have strength in interdisciplinary studies such as history, political science, economics, geography, psychology and anthropology, as evinced through my top-marks in these college studies. Here I take an integrative learning approach, incorporating ideas and cross-overs from other subjects, ensuring that my students are confident in taking tests and issuing papers for social studies courses.

graphic design

I've worked as a freelance graphic designer for the past six years, for local and national companies such as Rasputin Music, Trust in Education, UC Berkeley, and Alphonse Berber Gallery. I generally use Photoshop and have some experience with InDesign and Illustrator. I have taken multimedia courses as well as Photoshop, Illustrator, and design specific courses at different colleges around California. I tutor Photoshop and principles of graphic design in a hands-on practice, utilizing tutorials and shortcuts to help students reach their goals.
