Julie is a very nice person, but she wasn't the right fit for my child. My child has difficulty with writing, punctuation and run on sentences. Julie started working with my child 7 mos ago. Unfortunately, my daughter never learned punctuation in those 7 mos. She would work on these papers for Julie and they would continue to lack flow and punctuation. It didn't make any sense to me because Julie kept saying that she was working with my child on punctuation and run on sentences. The last straw for me was when my child came home from school with a 70 on her comma homework. I printed off some sentences with no punctuation and had my child complete them. After 30 minutes, my daughter understood and was able to apply that knowledge to a paper she had to write for Language Arts. That was all it took. I asked her why she wasn't able to learn this with Julie. My child stated that she would turn in her papers to Julie and Julie would just tell her where to place the punctuation instead of making my child do it. She wasn't able to tailor the lessons to my child's needs. If she saw that what she was teaching wasn't sinking in, then she should have figured out another way to do it. (i.e. Given her practice sheets and gone over them each lesson). Julie kept telling me to give it time and that it takes lots of practice. It doesn't take a 12 year old 7 mos to learn how to use punctuation. I'm terribly upset and disappointed. She is a very nice person, but she wasn't able to assist my child. Also, the class days frequently changed. And, on more than one occasion, she completely forgot about a lesson.
