We had a short window with early enlistment so time was of the essence, Jonathan was able to meet with her the very next day. Not only did he help her with her weakest subject (Math) he was able to quickly identify how she needs to learn in order to help her move forward quickly. She was very excited and looks forward to doing math now as "the light bulb went off" and she understands it now, she just needed it taught a different way. Not only did she score high enough to get into the Air Force she scored a very high number which opened up more jobs to her. When I learned of my daughter's failing grade in calculus, her next test was in 2 days and there are only 4-5 weeks left of the school year. I came to WyzAnt in search for a tutor and Jonathan was kind enough to help us although it was the last minute begging call. Even with rush hour traffic, he arrived on time which indicated that he had intended to be early. The minute he sat down with my daughter, he spent time learning where she is with Calculus and how he could best help. He identified where my daughter was weak and tended to her with lots of patience and care. My daughter's feedback on Jonathan was also great. Jonathan had earned her respect through his knowledge and patience. I would definitely recommend Jonathan as a tutor. Since Calculus is an advanced math course in high school, I would imagine all other math-related courses would be a cake walk for Jonathan. By the way, my daughter was average at 67. In the past critical test, she got an 83 (out of 100). I was more surprised when I met with my daughter's math teacher to learn that this was a particularly difficult test and quite a few students in her class failed. Her teacher was also pleasantly surprised of the result... which makes me a very happy Dad.

My jaw dropped to the floor when Jonathan walked out the door and my daughter asked, "Was he here for an hour? It seemed like 15 minutes." I've been home schooling my daughter for four years, and we have struggled with math from day one. When math time came, she changed into a different child, shutting down completely, saying she hated math. It was always our plan to put her into private school in the ninth grade, and during the application process, I was asked by the school to please put her in a math program, as her skills were very weak, and even with help, she would be a year behind. I only read one teacher bio, and it was for Jonathan. He seemed to be just what my daughter needed, someone who could translate the language of math into something she could understand. I can say that I am an educated person, and I can also say that I'm pretty competent in math, but I realized from the first time that Jonathan met with my daughter that I am not a math teacher. Jonathan met my daughter where she was mathematically. He asked about a type of problem, and worked backward, as far as he needed to, even if it literally meant beginning with definitions of math terminology. He was very careful in his questioning, never giving the impression that she should know something, or that she was lacking in skill, but at the same time, he was direct in letting her know what areas they would need to master to reach our goal. Jonathan is calm, kind, patient, and gives positive affirmations. When my daughter gets a problem wrong, he knows the line of thought that led to the mistake, explains it to her, and moves forward. I can say without question that my daughter does not hate math when tutoring with Jonathan! If I would have know about Jonathan before now, I would have gladly had him tutor my daughter on a regular basis as part of my home school curriculum. As it stands, he will be with us all summer, and I can realistically see us having him help my daughter get off to a great start in her first semester of school as well.

I was struggling in the beginning of my Pre-cal class and was worried I would end up doing bad in the class, but then my mom hooked me up with Jonathan and I never made anything under an A on a test. It's like he really understands you and he isn't one of those tutors who will make you feel dumb for missing a simple problem. He will work through the problem and try and figure out where you got mixed up at. My favorite part of the lessons were when he would give me tips that my teacher didn't teach me and they allowed me to work through problems faster and safer. Alas, my Pre-Cal days are now over and that means no more tutoring, although I'm happy to be out of school I know I'm going to miss my weekly tutoring sessions with my friend Johnathan.
