He was always prepared with materials and always gave extra tips along with guided practice. Mike has been tutoring me for the past 1-2 months and we meet about once a week. Even in this short period of time, I have felt exponential growth in my learning, and also in my confidence. At the start we were focusing on preparing my for the AP English Language Exam, focusing on the reading comprehension (which I would say is slightly harder than the SAT's reading comp) and the various essays on the exam. In both areas, he not only taught me techniques on how to perform better, but he introduced different mind-frames on how to approach the questions. This has been extremely effective and I now feel that I don't just 'know' what the questions are asking, but I am beginning to actually 'understand' the questions. I recently took the exam, and now we are focusing on SAT prep. Besides the reading comprehension, the AP English Exam and the SAT are very different, but Mike still knew how to effectively teach me in all aspects. He also helps me edit my essays for my Trojan War class at school, where I write essays about the Iliad. And lastly, he is a very nice person. He actively tries to fit into my personal schedule while not disrupting my other commitments.
