As an experienced teacher of 22 years, I have worked extensively with children with ADD/ADHD. In general, I find these children to be quite intelligent and able to learn as long as the learning environment is suitable. In the classroom they should sit near the front of the instructional area and should be gently guided to maintain attention. I also find that allowing them to stand or move during instruction can be helpful as long as its not distracting to those around them. Tactile activities also improves concentration and attention such as drawing and/or using manipulatives.
