College Planning/Preparation, Writing, and Learning Differences

ADD/ADHD

My work with children, teens, and college students with ADD/ADHD includes ensuring school accommodations are in place and being implemented, and working on organizational and study strategies which are key areas for school success. These executive function skills are critical for work completion, meeting deadlines, planning, breaking assignments into manageable sections, and time management.

Aspergers

I have worked with children and teens with Asperger's Syndrome for over 15 years. This includes ensuring school services and supports are in place, providing 1:1 assistance with executive functioning (e.g. organization, planning) and study skills, and developing at-home strategies to support learning and skills development. I also support and work with students transitioning to and in college from the college application process to securing accommodations through the offices of disability services.

autism

Along with expertise in Asperger's Syndrome, my broader expertise is autism spectrum disorders under which Asperger's Syndrome falls. I have supported students and their parents from an educational perspective, collaborated with educators, clinicians, and therapists, and helped to develop educational plans to meet the unique learning needs of these students. Advanced training in diverse learning styles, IEPs, evaluations, behavior, social skills, and executive functioning is part of my background.

Jay A. from Exton, PA

Debra was very effective working with my daughter helping with her college admission essays. She was easy to reach, punctual and well organized. She worked very closely with my daughter understanding her college essay requirements and providing feedback to my daughter's writing to ensure her thoughts were effectively reflected in the essays. Debra is an excellent tutor and enjoyed working with her.

Graham R. from Downingtown, PA

Debra has demonstrated invaluable knowledge of the IEP process and suggestions about how we ought to proceed which we wouldn't have known otherwise.
